Second Antechamber ('Œil-de-Bœuf Room')

The wide oval windows set into the narrow sides of the room gave their name to the corresponding room at Versailles, which is, however, much smaller and more simply decorated. The two mirrors on the narrow walls of the room are the biggest in the palace and give an infinite series of reflections of the three crystal chandeliers. The theme of the ceiling painting is: ‘Night Yields to Morning’. In the centre of the room is a bronze equestrian statuette of Louis XIV.
